Why An Aspen Blog?

We launched this blog with the desire to establish a forum for the discussion of church architecture and construction topics gleaned from learnings from Cornerstone Knowledge Network and our practical experience in the trenches. A Weblog provides an efficient and rapid form for posting such information and facilitating a dialogue for further learning.

Some might ask whether a blog isn’t just a fad adhered to mostly by younger people.  Yes, blogging is relatively new, and yes, it’s most readily adopted by the younger set.  But at its base, blogging is simply another form of communication. In many ways, it’s a forum like Mars Hill was in the ancient city of Athens – a place people went to hear something new and talk about the latest ideas (Acts 17). The Apostle Paul found it worthwhile to attend this forum and used it to engage the culture with the gospel message.

Here’s the deal: this blog will primarily post content related to the practical application on Aspen Group projects of the cutting edge knowledge being developed by CKN.  The “hot off the press” information can be found at the CKN site and also on Ed Bahler’s blog.  In a nutshell, go to Ed’s blog for theory and “what’s new”, then come back to the Aspen blog for examples of how it’s playing out in real world! The post on Moraine Valley Church is a prime example.

So, please join in. Feedback is critical in any such venture. Join the conversation!
