Diesel smoke in the air at Parkview!

2077325-1688307-thumbnail.jpgI know that's not a very "green" heading for a post, but in construction we can't help loving the sight and smell of excavating equipment!  So it's great to see the earthmovers onsite at Parkview Christian Church in Orland Park where work has begun on a parking lot expansion that will bring a much needed 300 additional spaces to this growing church.

Zero Inbox -- 3 months and counting!

2077325-1687846-thumbnail.jpgAs I related in the post Is Your Inbox Empty?, the book "Bit Literacy" motivated me to try the Zero Inbox concept back in March.  After three months of clearing my Inbox at the end of each day, I have to tell you it changed my life! And having just upgraded to Office 2007 (not the last person in the world to do this, I hope), I find it even easier since flagged e-mails show up on my ToDo list.

There is great freedom in knowing that each of my e-mails has been dealt with in some way at the end of each day, even if simply placed in a folder to handle at a later time.

Try it, you'll love it!

Breaking Ground at Rock Prairie Baptist

2077325-1666576-thumbnail.jpg2077325-1666578-thumbnail.jpg2077325-1666581-thumbnail.jpg

The Aspen team in Indy reported a great time at yesterday’s ground-breaking ceremony for Rock Prairie Baptist Church in Tipton, IN (about 30 miles north of Indianapolis).  This $1.6M project will begin construction very shortly and will provide new multi-purpose space for worship.  The existing worship area will be renovated to provide new foyer and connecting space as part of the project.  The next phase is anticipated to be a dedicated sanctuary.

The RPBC building is a former school that the church purchased several years back.  The church has tripled in attendance since Pastor Kevin Carr came there five years ago.  Our team has felt a true sense of family within the church. I’m sure they would welcome visitors!

Great Quotes!

Disclaimer: this post may contain bragging about the talents of the fine people at Aspen

I must confess to a little pride welling up after hearing from a couple of clients recently. The first involved a series of initial meetings with Pastor Eddie Lowen at West Side Christian in Springfield, IL.  After an extended dialogue about culture, ministry, leadership and facilities, he observed,

“It’s clear that Aspen wants to help WSCC become a better church, not just a church with a better facility.”

We couldn’t have said it better!

Then, after we completed the addition/renovation at Moraine Valley Church in Palos Heights, IL (various pictures in the Photo Gallery), Pastor Pat Peglow shared the following:

“Aspen not only counseled us regarding buildings, but also how to reach people in today’s culture. In a sense we had a building and ministry consultant all wrapped up in one.”

Thanks for the privilege of working with you, gentlemen.
